RE•WESTERN views “The West” through a post-modern lens that both challenges and honors this most American of genres. The End series are digital sculptures playing with western conventions and resources. Some might read these works as a comment on the decline of the western genre as a central, defining aspect of American culture. Others might see them as highlighting the contrast between the reality of western assets and our glorified, movie magic notion of those things. Possibly they are a comment on the role our contemporary society played in the sterilization and devaluing of real western history. All these things are true and a viewers reading of these pieces will be influenced by their own experience.
